Extraction 2 is an action thriller film starring Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a mercenary who returns to rescue the family of a crime lord from a prison in Georgia. He is joined by Golshifteh Farahani as Nik, his ally, and Adam Bessa as Yaz, her brother. 

The film also features Tornike Gogrichiani, Tornike Bziava, Tinatin Dalakishvili, Daniel Bernhardt, Olga Kurylenko and Idris Elba in supporting roles. The film is directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo, based on a graphic novel by Ande Parks and the Russo brothers. It is a sequel to the 2020 film Extraction.

Story:

Extraction 2 is a film about Tyler Rake, a former soldier who works as a mercenary. He is hired by his ex-wife Mia to rescue her sister Ketevan and her children Sandro and Nina from a prison in Georgia, where they are held by Ketevan's husband Davit, a cruel crime lord.

The film begins with Tyler recovering from his injuries in a cabin in Austria, after his previous mission in Dhaka, where he saved a boy named Ovi from a rival gang. A mysterious man, sent by Mia, shows up at his house to offer him a job. Mia's sister, Ketevan, and her kids are locked in a Georgian prison by Ketevan's husband, Davit Radiani, who is forcefully keeping them there.

Davit is one of the leaders of Nagazi, a powerful crime syndicate that he founded with his brother Zurab. Davit was arrested by the authorities after he killed a DEA agent, and he refused to let his family go, fearing that they would betray him. Mia wants Tyler to free them and bring them to safety.

Tyler agrees to take the job, and contacts his friend and ally Nik, who runs a network of mercenaries. Nik agrees to help him, and brings along her brother Yaz, a skilled hacker and driver. They fly to Georgia, where they meet with a corrupt guard who gives them access to the prison. Tyler and Nik disguise themselves as prisoners, while Yaz waits outside with a getaway car. 

They find Ketevan and her children in a cell, and convince them to follow them. However, Davit sees them on the security cameras, and orders his men to stop them. A prison riot breaks out, and Tyler and Nik have to fight their way through the chaos, while protecting Ketevan and her kids.

They manage to reach the exit, where Yaz picks them up. They drive away, but they are soon chased by Davit's men, who have cars and motorcycles. A high-speed chase ensues, with Tyler and Nik shooting at their pursuers, while Yaz tries to evade them. They reach a forest, where they abandon the car and continue on foot. 

They find a train station, where they board a freight train that is heading to the border. They hope to escape Georgia and reach Turkey, where they can contact Mia. However, Davit is not willing to give up. He calls his brother Zurab, who is in Istanbul, and asks him to intercept the train and kill Tyler and his team. Zurab agrees, and sends his men to the train station.

He also contacts a rogue CIA agent named Alcott, who reveals that he was the one who hired Tyler for the job. Alcott tells Zurab that Tyler is a former Australian special forces soldier, who left the army after his son died from a terminal illness. Tyler blamed himself for his son's death, and became a mercenary to cope with his guilt. 

Alcott says that he wants Tyler dead, because he holds him responsible for the death of his partner, the DEA agent that Davit killed. Alcott and his partner were investigating Nagazi, and they had a deal with Davit to turn against Zurab, in exchange for his freedom. However, Davit betrayed them, and killed the agent, while Alcott barely escaped. Alcott then used Mia to lure Tyler into a trap, hoping to get revenge on both him and Davit.

Zurab's men arrive at the train station, and board the train. They attack Tyler and his team, who fight back. A fierce gunfight erupts, with bullets flying and blood spilling. Tyler and Nik manage to kill most of Zurab's men, but Nik is wounded in the process. Yaz drives a car onto the train tracks, and catches up with the train. He helps Tyler and the others to get off the train, and drives them away.

However, Zurab follows them in a helicopter, and shoots at them. He hits Yaz, who loses control of the car, and crashes into a river. Tyler, Nik, Ketevan and her kids survive the crash, and swim to the shore. Zurab lands the helicopter, and confronts them. He shoots Nik, who dies in Tyler's arms. He then aims at Tyler, but Tyler shoots him first, killing him.

Tyler and the others are then surrounded by Alcott and his CIA agents, who arrive in SUVs. Alcott tells Tyler that he has been playing him all along, and that he wants him dead. He also says that he will take Ketevan and her kids into custody, and use them as leverage against Davit. Tyler refuses to surrender, and prepares to fight. 

However, before Alcott can shoot him, he is shot in the head by Ovi, who appears on a nearby hill, with a sniper rifle. Ovi had tracked down Tyler, after learning that he was alive, and followed him to Georgia. He saved Tyler's life, as a way of repaying him for saving his. Ovi then helps Tyler and the others to escape, and they drive away.

The film ends with Tyler and Ovi reuniting, and Tyler thanking him for his help. Tyler then calls Mia, and tells her that he has rescued her sister and her kids, and that they are safe. Mia thanks him, and apologises for lying to him. She says that she still loves him, and asks him to come back to her. 

Tyler says that he loves her too, and that he will think about it. He then hangs up, and looks at Ovi, who smiles at him. Tyler smiles back, and drives away, with a new hope for his future.
