Jumanji: The Next Level is a 2019 adventure comedy film that follows four friends who return to the magical video game world of Jumanji to rescue one of their own. However, they discover that the game has changed and they have to face new challenges and dangers.
The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Eddie/Dr. Smolder Bravestone, a fearless explorer; Jack Black as Fridge/Professor Sheldon Oberon, a cartographer; Kevin Hart as Milo/Franklin "Mouse" Finbar, a zoologist; Karen Gillan as Martha/Ruby Roundhouse, a martial artist; Nick Jonas as Alex/Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough, a pilot; Awkwafina as Spencer/Ming Fleetfoot, a thief; Danny Glover as Milo Walker, Eddie's friend; and Danny DeVito as Eddie Gilpin, Spencer's grandfather.
Story:
The movie begins with a flashback of the night when Spencer Gilpin, Fridge Johnson, Martha Kaply, and Bethany Walker escaped from Jumanji after completing their quest. They decided to destroy the game console to prevent anyone from playing it again.
Two years later, the friends have gone their separate ways in college. Spencer is unhappy with his life in New York and misses his avatar Dr. Smolder Bravestone. He returns home for Christmas break and finds his grandfather Eddie recovering from hip surgery. He also finds the broken pieces of the game console in his basement and decides to fix it and play it again.

The next day, Fridge, Martha, and Bethany meet at Nora's diner and wonder where Spencer is. They go to his house and find Eddie and his former friend Milo Walker, who came to visit him. They also hear the game's drums coming from the basement and realize that Spencer has gone back into Jumanji. They decide to follow him and rescue him.
However, things go wrong when Eddie and Milo are also sucked into the game along with them. To make matters worse, they end up in different avatars than before. Fridge becomes Professor Sheldon Oberon, Eddie becomes Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Milo becomes Franklin "Mouse" Finbar, and Martha becomes Ruby Roundhouse. Bethany is left behind in the real world.
Inside Jumanji, they meet Nigel Billingsley, who gives them their new mission: to recover the Falcon Jewel from Jurgen the Brutal, a ruthless warlord who killed Bravestone's parents. The jewel can restore balance to Jumanji and end a drought that threatens its wildlife. They also learn that they have three new abilities: switching avatars with each other, pausing the game, and using a map.
They begin their journey across Jumanji's diverse landscapes: deserts, mountains, jungles, and castles. Along the way, they encounter various dangers and challenges such as ostriches, mandrills, rope bridges, blimps, and mercenaries. They also find Spencer in the avatar of Ming Fleetfoot, a cat burglar who can pick locks and steal things.
They are also joined by Alex Vreeke as Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough, who was contacted by Bethany in the real world. Bethany manages to enter Jumanji as a new avatar: Cyclone, a winged horse who can fly. Together, they use their skills and teamwork to overcome their obstacles and reach Jurgen's fortress.
There, they face off against Jurgen and his army in an epic battle. They manage to retrieve the Falcon Jewel and place it on a giant statue of a falcon. However, they also lose some of their lives in the process. Eddie sacrifices himself to save Spencer from Jurgen's axe and dies in his arms.
As they celebrate their victory and prepare to leave Jumanji, Eddie tells Spencer that he is proud of him and that he should live his life to the fullest. He also reconciles with Milo and tells him that he forgives him for selling their diner without his consent. Milo reveals that he is terminally ill and decides to stay in Jumanji as Mouse Finbar.
