The Kerala Story | Adah Sharma | Yogita Bihani | Siddhi Idnani | Sonia Balani

The Kerala Story is a movie that exposes the alleged phenomenon of "love jihad", a conspiracy theory that claims that Muslim men lure Hindu women into converting to Islam and joining terrorist groups. The movie is based on the real-life cases of Nimisha Fathima and Bindu Sampath, two women from Kerala who converted to Islam and joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The movie stars Adah Sharma as Shalini Unnikrishnan/Fatima Ba, a Hindu woman who was abducted and radicalized by extremist Muslims; Yogita Bihani as Nimah Mathew, a Christian woman who was deceived and converted by her lover; Sonia Balani as Asifa, a Muslim woman who was brainwashed and recruited by her husband; and Siddhi Idnani as Geetanjali Menon, a Hindu woman who was tricked and converted by her boyfriend. The movie was directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.

Story:

The movie begins with Shalini Unnikrishnan (Adah Sharma), a Hindu woman who converted to Islam and joined ISIS, being interrogated by Indian intelligence officers in Afghanistan. She reveals her story of how she was abducted, brainwashed, and radicalized by extremist Muslims in her college.

Shalini was a bright and ambitious student who wanted to become a nurse. She joined a nursing college in Kasaragod, where she befriended three other girls: Nimah (Yogita Bihani), Asifa (Sonia Balani), and Geetanjali (Siddhi Idnani). They were all from different regions and religions of Kerala.

Shalini soon fell in love with Rameez (Pranay Pachauri), a charming and handsome Muslim boy who was also a student at the college. He wooed her with his sweet words and gifts, and convinced her to elope with him. He also persuaded her to convert to Islam and change her name to Fatima Ba.

However, Shalini soon realized that Rameez was not what he seemed. He was actually a member of a radical Islamic group that was recruiting young girls for ISIS. He took Shalini to a secret camp, where she was subjected to physical and mental torture.

She was forced to watch violent videos of beheadings and bombings, and listen to hate speeches against Hindus and other non-Muslims. She was also indoctrinated with the ideology of ISIS, and taught how to use weapons and explosives.

Shalini tried to escape, but was caught and punished by Rameez and his associates. She was also raped by Abdul (Pranav Misshra), the leader of the group. She gradually lost her sense of identity and self-worth, and became a loyal follower of ISIS.

Meanwhile, Nimah, Asifa, and Geetanjali also underwent similar transformations. They were all lured by different Muslim men who pretended to love them, but were actually part of the same group as Rameez. They were also converted to Islam and renamed as Shaziya, Ayesha, and Zainab respectively.

The four girls were then sent to Afghanistan, where they joined ISIS as terrorists. They participated in various attacks and killings, believing that they were doing God's work. They also became pregnant with their husbands' children.

However, their lives took a turn when they were captured by the Afghan forces during a raid. They were taken to a prison, where they were interrogated by the Indian intelligence officers. They were also confronted by their parents, who had been searching for them for years.

Shalini's mother (Devadarshini) pleaded with her daughter to come back home, but Shalini refused to acknowledge her as her mother. She said that she was happy with her life in ISIS, and that she hated Hindus for oppressing Muslims. She also said that she had one more mission left: to kill Ishak (Vijay Krishna), an Indian spy who had infiltrated their group.

Shalini then revealed that she had hidden a bomb inside her burqa, which she had planned to detonate during the interrogation. She pressed the button, but nothing happened. She realized that Ishak had already defused the bomb before she entered the room.

Ishak then told Shalini that he had been watching her for a long time, and that he knew everything about her past. He said that he felt sorry for her, as she had been manipulated by evil people who used religion as an excuse for violence. He said that she still had a chance to redeem herself, and that he would help her escape from the prison.

Shalini was shocked by Ishak's words, and felt a flicker of doubt in her mind. She wondered if she had made a mistake by joining ISIS, and if there was still hope for her. She looked at Ishak with a mix of fear and curiosity. The movie ends with a cliffhanger, as the screen fades to black and a gunshot is heard. It is unclear whether Shalini accepted Ishak's offer, or whether she tried to kill him or herself.
